M.C. Escher-inspired puzzle game The Bridge is free at the Epic Games Store

The latest free game hitting the Epic Games Store is The Bridge, an indie puzzle game inspired by the physics of Isaac Newton and the impossible geometry of M.C. Escher.

The Bridge is illustrated in a beautiful black-and-white, hand-drawn lithograph style. Each level guides an amnesiac protagonist through a logic-defying platform that is heavily reminiscent of Escher's impossible objects — stairs lead nowhere, doors don't make sense. Puzzles are solved by shifting perspective, manipulating gravity, and otherwise breaking the laws of physics.

Fans of physics-based puzzle games like Monument Valley and Fez will likely enjoy getting lost in the mazes. There's even a set of bonus advanced levels for those who've beaten the game.

Epic will continue its popular free games program through at least 2020, with new free game(s) dropping at 11 a.m. ET each Thursday morning. The Bridge is available now at the Epic Games Store on Windows PC, and will be replaced on Jan. 30 by Farming Simulator 19.
